Better hope you were good enough to your wife on Mothers Day. If not, she may already be looking for your replacement.
According to numbers first reveled by momlogic, 31,427 women signed up on AshleyMadison.com the day after Mothers Day. According to the website –whose soul purpose is to help facilitate extramarital affairs- this is over 10 times the number of women that sign up on any given Monday, and of those 31,472 women:
- 67 percent identified themselves as stay-at-home moms .
- The average age was 36.
- Over two-thirds had been considering an affair before Mother’s Day.
In looking at these numbers I find my self torn. On one hand -as a conservative- I say this is due to the ever eroding values and lack of personal responsibility in the country. But, on the other hand, I really want to blame Sex in the City, Desperate Housewives, and other like minded shows for reinforcing in the minds of women that it is not only OK, but actually beneficial to “live it up” and see what else is out there. Then again maybe it is all one and the same.
50 years ago society would have never allowed shows like this to be made – not to mention the fact- producers and network executives never would have tried to make them in the first pace. It’s like the old Chicken and the Egg, which came first?
Feminists would likely say that men should get over it because for years we caroused and cheated and now it is their turn, and while I don’t condone such behavior from either sex, women are supposed to be the brakes, the road blocks to such activities. Men’s ability to cheat was often halted due to the lack of women willing to play along (unless you had money or power of course).
But now, with women trying to copy the perceived past sins of men, society is morphing into the last days of Rome. But at least we are all happy now, right? With everyone living for the moment and striving to fulfill their every wanton desire, I bet the makers of antidepressants are losing money left and right… right?
